Design Engineer

Candidate will assist the engineering team in the design of special cutting tools, customer technical support and creating or modifying part prints.

Responsibilities include:
  • Design and quote special cutting tools based on internal manufacturing capabilities and customer requirements.
  • Creates and revises 3D models and 2D drawings in accordance with internal manufacturing capabilities and customer requirements.
  • Applies knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes, customer drawings, dimensioning standards, bill of material information and notations necessary for part design.
  • Understanding of routings and process improvement.
  • Working with vendors for quoting and design purposes.
  • Provide technical support to customers.
  • Travel to customer or trade shows up to 3-4 times a year.
  • A.S. Mechanical Engineering or equivalent or 3 years experience in machining field
    • B.S. Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Proficient in Solidworks or equivalent CAD software
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and GD&T
  • Ability to analyze and effectively problem solve difficult design/drawing issues either independently or collaboratively with customer and/or vendor
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective time management, organizational skills and follow-through on assignments.
  • Self-motivated individual, strong attention to detail
  • Adaptive to change, willingness for continued learning
Nice to have but not required:
  • Experience with Mastercam or similar CAM Software
  • Knowledge of G and M code machine programming language
  • Knowledge of cam screw machines, Swiss CNC, CNC Mills and Lathes, Wire EDM and/or surface grinding a plus
